Right Wing Spiritualist

Just because I'm a practitioner within the Church of Religious Science (founded by Ernest Homes) it doesn't mean that I'm a tree-hugger, liberal! Some of us in the New Thought movement still beleive that while we are trying to change the energy of this planet - WE STILL HAVE TO LIVE ON THIS PLANET !!

RE: Weight Loss Surgery / A Real Life Saving Story !!

Dear Mr. McClellan:

I have been given to understand that you are in the process of eliminating Medical Weight Loss Surgery coverage under the Medicare and/or Medicaid umbrella. Please read the following testimonial and consider your decision carefully. I am only one of millions of individuals that had no further medical or personal options available to save their own lives !! Thank you!

In the beginning of this journey - I was just 40 years old and I found myself in a conundrum. Common medical "wisdom" says – If you are fat Eat Less and Exercise More. That’s what I’d been told for 20 years. I was at 320 lbs. and at my wit's end. I didn’t lead a sedentary life! I was an Actress, Singer and Public Speaker. However, after an adulthood of dieting, my pancreas had failed (I’d become diabetic), my kidney’s were dying (flushing protein), and my heart was throwing PVC’s (extra, abrupt beats) that were so bad I couldn’t sleep (even though I was exhausted most of the time). I was suffering from Sleep Apnea, which would soon require a C-Pap and I as an embarrassing topper I was incontinent! I exercised like a maniac – even though the pain I experienced walking 2 miles a day was excruciating. Wanna hear the funny part? My Primary Care Physician (PCP) told me that I would need a double knee replacement in less than 2 years if I didn’t take it easy with my exercise routine! I’d already blown my right achilles tendon and she wanted me to take it easier. So much for the exercising more advice!

My Brother and his family and my friends, although loving and supportive, had stopped asking me to do things with them because of my physical limitations – things like going to Disney movies with my nieces was impossible because of the movie theater stairs and the size of the chairs. When I went dancing with my friends they knew to get a table so that I could sit often. When I was in rehearsals for a play or musical everyone knew that I would need to rest more than others do. It was humiliating and painful to know that I’d tried every dietary avenue available (Liquid Diet, Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Adkins and South Beach) and still couldn’t "get control" of my weight. My employment was a problem – Although I was one of those very rare morbidly obese women who didn’t have trouble getting or keeping a job – but only because I type over 120 words per minute and was VERY good at my job. However, I was seldom, if ever, asked to represent any company to the outside world. I was not allowed to relieve our receptionists, I was not allowed the opportunity to speak in public, I was denied the chance to advance out of the secretarial role – not because I was uneducated or unskilled … Hey, personality doesn’t often overcome the stigma of presenting an obese face in a corporate world!

Why surgery? Hmmm … have you read the first 5 paragraphs? I was dying and at a physical limitation dead end! I knew surgery was a drastic & dangerous choice – However, after doing my due diligence both on the Internet and attending several doctors’ informational sessions it became apparent that it was now my final chance to live a healthy life. I had to caution on the side of saving my own life – and I was willing to go against any fear or arguments that may have been presented to me by friends or family. I had my way out of the darkness that had become my health !

Post Surgical Results – I am now 1 year, 2 days post surgical. I have lost 166 lbs. and my BMI is now 23.8 (down from 47). My diabetes was cured during my hospital stay, my knee pain resolved more and more as the weight dropped off. I sleep through the night as my PVC’s and Sleep Apnea are resolved. I’m no longer incontinent and I can walk and sit anywhere I wish! I’ve been offered two promotions at work, but am considering a career change that would take me out from behind a desk and allow me to live an even larger than before.

Mr. McClellan, my weight had to be reduced to save my life! Millions of individual lives, who are currently in more dire medical need than I found myself 1 year ago, will certainly be forfeit without a surgical option. It would be a crime to allow them to die simply because you may not have experienced their plight. Well, I have experienced it all – please do not eliminate Surgical Weight Loss from the Medicare and/or Medicaid plan!

Thank you,
Ms. Colista Lich

My Leftie Religion v. My Conservative Politics

I wrote a lot and then lost it ... that might have been good ... too many mingled thoughts. I remember the end summary the best and it made the most sense.

... I'm willing to admit that the world changed after 9/11 and I had to change with it. I'm not blinded my church, The Church of Religious Science, which is VERY Liberal and all about feeling good. I'm not scared of America's influence in this world or the fact that former world "friends" no longer follow our lead. I'm not threatened by those who would hate me for diverging from the church's goal - which is to change the world to a place where there is no poverty, famine or lack. I want that too - but not at the expense of my liberty, freedom or faith!

I AM all about being right with my Higher Power, which I often call God. How much more right can we be than to confront evil where it lies? How much more right than to offer liberty to those who are being trod on by Islamo-Fascists? How much more right than to set up a social system that encourages individuals to be responsible for their words, actions and deeds? Is there anything more "Religious Science" than to encourage the governments of the world to empower their people to make their own lives better - Teaching vs. Fishing in this world is a must !

My answer to all of those who would have me shut my big mouth - "Most of you have never voted, won't vote in this election, and don't know what you're talking about when all you've heard is Michael Moore, ABC, NBC or CBS and the Post or Journals of this world ... Vote, get educated from a myriad of sources, give me an argument that doesn't reek of FEELINGS and THEN you can bitch at my activism!"

Spirit Bless George Bush, his Administration, the United States of America and this World !!

Left Wing Blog Efforts

My last posting elicited one comment ... from an obvious left wing operative. I went to Hugh Hewitt's site and the Vox Blogoli IV: Why Vote For Bush & What's Wrong With Kerry area to see if this individual had commented to others -- WOW had he ever. He was in dozens of other blog Comment sections.

My friend was impressed that anyone had commented on my little BLOG. I was amused noting that this individual thought to persuade me and others to his point of view with a lame argument against George Bush's politics.

I'm not posting his name because it's insignificant. I'm just saying that this is the best the Left can do against the massive onslaught of insightful, thoughtful and educated bloggers. Now, I'm not including myself in this compliment, I'm just a little voice in the wilderness -- but I like getting the word out!

Hugh Hewitt 10/16/04 - Why vote for Bush & what's wrong with Kerry?

Limiting verbosity – good move Hugh !

It can’t be said often enough – The war on terror should be the ONLY ISSUE on which we choose the President of the United States in 2004. The war on terror outweighs any rhetoric bandied about regarding economic, social or judicial issues. We must vote for the man who will actually protect this country!

George Bush believes, and has backed it up with action and conviction, that we should LEAD the war on terror! The undeniable fact is that we live in the POST 9/11 world where the United Nations has proven itself corrupt and totally unable to do anything but posture and pose. We have no choice but to be out front in the fight against the Islamic Fascist-Bomber-Murderer-Haters. The message sent by liberating Iraq, that we can and will take decisive action, has already changed the Middle East. By liberating one country we have lessened the likelihood of another "country" sponsoring the terrorists. We are safer.

John Kerry has no intention of defending us against terror. He believes we should FOLLOW the lead of the corrupt, anti-American, United Nations. He won’t do "whatever it takes" to protect us or make the difficult choices of a man who loves this country. Simply put, Kerry is a pacifying-isolationist who wants to be "liked" around the world. This view, loved by the terrorists, will make expose his soft underbelly and us more vulnerable to attack.

If not the U.S.A., who? and if not now, when?

Why Liberals Will Vote For Bush

What Liberals are really going to do in the voting booth !

November 1st (generic office in America)
Mike states, "I like the fact that John Kerry wants to promote peace in this world." Bill replies, "I do to - he sees the world at good, kind and positive. I'm tired of everyone telling me that the terrorists are going to attack us again." Mike ends with, "Yea, it's tiring to think about all of this."

November 2nd (voting precinct)
Mike and Bill both walk into their voting booths, read the ballot and KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that John Kerry doesn't have a clue about how to protect us --- they vote for George W. Bush.

November 2nd (back in the office)
Mike, "I voted for Kerry - I feel really good." Bill, "Me too, I think things will be better now."

Headline on November 3rd
BUSH WINS IN LANDSLIDE - Even though every liberal I know say they voted for John Kerry.

For over a year now I've been telling my friend, Bill R., that no self-respecting American will be able to close those curtains behind them and vote for John Kerry. I believe that when it comes right down to it people understand the basics of this campaign -- President George W. Bush is currently and actively fighting terrorism abroad and at home and John Kerry doesn't have a clue what to do.

I believe in the American people and their overwhelming belief in the safety and security of this country. Even though some Liberals might not like the idea that we are powerful enough to protect our, and our allies, interests around the world -- it ultimately brings them a sense of security - if not comfort in their overwhelming hypocracy.

Vote, and tell your liberal friends to vote - it can only help George W. Bush !

Specter of Breast Cancer

I’ve often told my friends that even though I’m a 5 year breast cancer survivor I live with the specter of the disease on my shoulder. I don’t pay attention to it very often, probably only once a year or so when I go for my check ups, but it lives there and is ready to be seen and heard from. It is made up of fear of the unknown and uncertainty about the future --- it wants us to pay attention to the negative possibilities it represents --- it does not want to be silent.

Well it reared it’s ugly head about two months ago. You see, I’ve lost a lot of weight and my previous breast reconstruction, following the mastectomy, has failed. The plastic surgeon I consulted with found an enlarged lymph node under my right arm. I told him it was nothing, as I’d been aware of it being there for over 3 years, but he insistent that I get it removed or he wouldn’t do the surgery. Well, that made me angry! How dare he tell me, after all the work I’d gone through to keep some of my lymph system intact, that I needed to have a node removed just because he was uncomfortable with it? However, as I always err or the side of saving my own life, and I want new boobs, I decided to get it checked out.

Both my General Practitioner and Oncologist advised me to have them removed. Well, if you haven’t ever seen the results of lymphadema (the enlargement of the arm and fingers following removal of the lymph system) then you can’t relate to the fears around it. After all, I’m a bead artist, painter and guitar player (not to mention the fact that I make a part of my living typing over 120 wpm), I couldn’t then and can’t now afford to have much more of my lymph nodes removed! I fought opting to speak with a surgeon. The surgeon and I created an "Option K" (as my brother is fond of saying) which amounted to doing several large needle biopsies that would give us an answer as to what exactly the tissue was and yet keep from killing the nodes.

I’ve maintained, from the beginning that there would be no positive results, that it was benign! Yesterday they took out the four lumps of tissue, and today I got the results. Here is a direct quote from the Nurse Practitioner – "Colista, it is exactly as you said it would be … a reactive lymph node with some fatty tissue surrounding it … it is completely benign and nothing to worry about."

As I’ve always said … I know my body better than anyone and I knew it would be nothing. I am, however, human, and once the tissue was removed I needed to hear the words --- and what beautiful words they were! Best news - I get my new boobs in January :) (lol)

Kerry's Moral Relativism

To Hugh Hewitt’s http://www.hughhewitt.com question … "What do Kerry's answers to today's press inquiries tell us about Kerry's worldview and character?"

Kerry is a Moral Relativist. He believes in an "All Things Begin Equal" world view. He doesn’t come right out and say the words but it’s more than implied in his answers. Note the following drivel: "Are we invading all 60 countries?... Are we invading all 35 to 40 of them? Did we invade Russia? Did we invade China?" His assertion is that ALL countries that have nuclear weapons need to be invaded, which is a false premise. He probably doesn’t know how many of these nuclear powers are our allies or enemies, and he doesn’t really care. In an all things being equal world … anyone that has the power is wrong and anyone striking against that power is right.

John Kerry wants so desperately to convince himself and the rest of the world that the "cause" he supported in the 1970’s – establishing world peace by eradicating war – is still valid. It was the defining moment in his life and he has been trying to recreate it for the past 30 years. This is the act of insanity. The world and it’s people are always changing, progressing and regressing. To act as if post 9/11 world events can be dealt with in the "old" way is nuts.

What I find amusing is the fact that all three questions, that he so generously answered yesterday, were very pointed and direct. This from a media that treats all Liberal candidates (and this one specifically) with kid gloves, tossing whiffle ball questions so as not to offend or appear over eager. He was confronted by his worst nightmare, being asked a directly, pointed questions and he fell apart !! Lacking the Clinton-esque ease at deflection, he over answered when he should have kept silent.

John Kerry is a coward. He would have us believe he is a Hawk when in fact he is a Mouse. If there are any Right-Wing Republicans in tonight’s debate – I hope they have the guts to ask the tough questions about Kerry’s world view … what EXACTLY he would do if he were put in charge of the war on terror. He doesn’t have the nads to answer such a question directly and I want the whole world to see it.

Islamic Evil, Schoolyard Bullies

I'm constantly surprised by people who fail to understand that, at the most basic level, the world is dealing with evil playground bullies. A world-wide movement full of bullies. The ones that hit you because it makes them feel better and don’t care if you cry, don’t care if you bleed, and don’t care if they get caught hurting you. The bullies that laughingly take their punishment from the school principal. The kind of bullies that scare their teachers because they don’t appear to have any feelings about the harm they are causing others or the punishment that they are receiving. These bullies are willing to spit in the face of all authority figures and come back for more punishment rather than change their behavior.

But here's the part that Liberals really don’t understand - bullies surround themselves with weaker individuals - people they can push around and force to do their dirty work. The Islamic Fundamentalists have created schools dedicated to turning out both meaner bullies, who can think of the worst kinds of torment and torture for the "rest of the world", and weak-minded simps who will gladly do their bidding.

Many schoolyard bullies, as they get older, end up dead or in jail ... because in a truly progressive society, a system of laws, checks and balances, keep evil from winning. In the current world order, however, there are very few checks and hardly any balances. Too many countries and their people are deluded into believing that if you just "wish" people to be good they won't hurt you. Moreover, as much as I truly believe humans are one-people and one mind all connected by a supreme being (often called God), I know that there is evil manifesting itself in this world! Even though I am a person of faith, I have the ability to recognize that this Islamic Fundamentalist belief system has become cancerous and must be eradicated.

Bottom line … there are only two ways to deal with a bully … run faster than they can or hit harder. Since we only live on one planet running isn’t an option. That leaves standing, fighting back and hitting harder. I thank God for George Bush and his administration. I believe they were ordained to be in this place at this time, leading the cause against the Islamic Bullies.
